PHILOSOPHY:  

My goal is to provide relief for hardworking veterinarians and to give practice owners peace of mind that their clients and patients will be cared for well. I value communication: by keeping detailed medical records to facilitate transition of care to other veterinary team members, and by respectfully listening to and educating clients.

Relief work in Alaska, Northern Virginia, and Arizona 2010-2013 and 2015 through present.

Montclair Animal Hospital; Montclair, VA. Relief work November 2011-May 2013 and 2016-2018.

Island to Island Veterinary Clinic; Ketchikan, AK. Relief work September 2015-March 2016, resuming May 2019 through present.

Juneau Veterinary Hospital; Juneau, AK. Associate veterinarian April 2014-April 2015. Occasional relief work since.

Southeast Alaska Animal Medical Center; Juneau, AK. Associate veterinarian June-Dec 2013. Relief veterinarian 2020-2022 until clinic closed. Continued relief work through present for the practicing partners who reopened individual clinics.

Home Veterinary Care of Northern Virginia. Relief veterinarian 2010-2022 (including covering for owner’s international travel and serious surgeries).

Ridge Lake Animal Hospital; Woodbridge, VA. Associate veterinarian in small animal general practice, May 2009-April 2013 (part-time), resuming relief 2016-2019.

Additional contributions to clinic:

  • Created estimate templates to standardize and improve efficiency.
  • Implemented automatic vaccination info attached to vaccination entry (saving staff time entering each vaccine individually).
  • Edited clinic website and helped develop brochure.
  • Wrote or edited a variety of documents (dental letter, surgery discharge instructions, anesthesia monitoring form).

  • Designed history/exam form, collating different forms from three doctors
  • Designed and implemented anesthesia monitoring form
  • Chose CD-ROM and implemented program of client information sheets for medications
  • Organized clinic team for shelter 5-K fundraiser, involving most employees and families

Medical Animal Clinic Externship, University of Munich, Germany; July 2002. Performed physical exams on cattle, administered medications, observed and assisted in surgery, discussed cases with clinicians. (Communicated in English and German.)
